Investment Methodology

Built around where you are going, not where the market has been.

Most portfolios are set once and left alone. We manage ours actively, with risk built into every decision and each piece placed in the account where it works hardest for you.

Our philosophy

Three beliefs shape how we invest.

We are tactical.

We do not set a portfolio and walk away. We manage it actively, trading to capture profits when they are there and adding when markets are depressed and the opportunity is better. We do this on a trend and momentum basis, following where the strength actually is. The goal is to participate in the growth and be deliberate about when we take chips off the table and when we put them back to work.

Risk management is the whole thing.

For most firms, risk management is a box they check once when they set your allocation. For us, it is built into how every portfolio is run, all the time. Managing risk is not something we do in addition to managing your money. It is how we manage your money.

Where an investment lives matters.

The same investment behaves differently depending on which account holds it, so we are deliberate about placement. Our more aggressive models generally belong in Roth accounts, where money typically has the longest time to grow and that growth can come out tax free. Our more conservative models generally go in non-qualified accounts, where the money may be needed sooner.

The case for asset location

Where you hold an investment is its own kind of return.

The idea that placement matters as much as selection is not ours alone. It is a well-established principle in financial planning research, and it is one of the few ways a portfolio can add real value without taking on more risk. Every account is taxed differently, so the same investment builds a different amount of after-tax wealth depending on where it lives.

The research adds the insight that shapes how we do it: placement matters most for your highest-growth investments. Sheltering a low-return holding saves little, because there is little growth to protect. Sheltering a high-growth holding saves a great deal, because decades of compounding are what is being protected. That is exactly why our most aggressive models belong in the Roth, the account with the longest runway and the most favorable treatment, where that growth is never taxed again, even for the next generation.

The same logic runs the other way. Money you may need sooner, and steadier, lower-growth positions, belong where access matters more than shelter. Done across your whole portfolio, this is not a small tweak. It is a deliberate structural advantage, a return you earn by getting the placement right rather than by reaching for more risk.

The toolkit

A full range, from conservative to aggressive.

These are the models we draw from. Think of them as a spectrum. We rarely use just one. We select and combine them to build the portfolio a specific client needs.

Where a model sits reflects its general risk posture, not a prediction or a guarantee. Your actual mix depends on your plan, your timeline, and your accounts.

The models

Eleven building blocks, one for every job.

The Core family, your foundation
Core Active

A tactically managed mix of broad market indexes. Our foundational model, built for qualified accounts.

Core Small

The same broad, diversified approach designed for smaller allocations, so newer or smaller accounts still get a real strategy.

Core All Weather

A steadier core built for non-qualified accounts where taxes are a consideration, designed to hold up across a range of market conditions.

The growth models, for reaching further
Themes

Targets long-term growth themes and runs more aggressively than Core. Built for qualified accounts, where a longer runway rewards more calculated risk.

Growth

Takes those themes further, expressing them through individual stocks for a more concentrated, growth-focused position.

The individual-stock models, for precision
Quality

A focused allocation to individual companies showing clear leadership, with long-standing, durable businesses behind them.

Stability

Individual stocks spread across diversified sectors, designed to trade minimally and complement Core All Weather in non-qualified accounts.

High Conviction

Our highest-conviction individual holdings, concentrated, and built for smaller accounts that want that focused exposure.

The specialty sleeves, for specific jobs
Diversifiers

An allocation to bonds with some exposure to commodities and credit, used to broaden a portfolio beyond stocks.

Crypto

A dedicated sleeve for clients who want measured exposure to digital assets.

Cash Equivalent

Short-term bonds for money with a short time horizon, where stability and access matter more than growth.

How it comes together

One framework, assembled around you.

Here is what makes this work. These eleven models are not eleven products you choose between. They are building blocks, and the skill is in how they are combined. We do not put the same allocation in every account. We look at your full picture, your risk profile, your timeline, and the structure of your accounts, and we place each model where it fits. The aggressive growth model in the Roth, where decades of tax-advantaged compounding can work. The conservative model in the non-qualified account, where the money may be needed sooner. A specialty sleeve added only where it serves the plan.

Because we build from a defined set of models rather than picking individual investments account by account, the whole system stays efficient, and that efficiency helps keep costs low. You get a portfolio that is genuinely customized to your life, assembled from a disciplined framework, without the cost and complexity that usually comes with that level of personalization.

Let us build the portfolio your plan actually needs.

Your investments should be built around where you are going, managed with real discipline, and placed where each piece works hardest. Let us show you what that looks like for your situation.
